Finding a lead maternity carer (LMC) is a key step early in pregnancy, with many choosing a midwife, or sometimes an obstetrician, for their care.

Mental Health Support
Little Shadow
Little Shadow offers counselling and support for parents experiencing perinatal distress, depression, grief, loss and anxiety. Little Shadow believes the road to recovery, resilience and wellness all begins with a little help. Little Shadow supports parents giving birth as well as partners, and provides individual and couples counselling.

Tūpuna Parenting Foundations Lower Hutt Āti Awa
Te Rūnanga will be hosting an 8-week Tūpuna Parenting wānanga for māmā, pāpā, and caregivers in Lower Hutt, starting April 23rd. Learn traditional mātauranga on raising pēpi and tamariki to enhance your home environment.

Hāputanga Wānanga | Te Awhi o te Rito
Hāputanga Wānanga is a bi-monthly 2-day wānanga at Kōkiri Marae, Seaview (next one happening in June) for all hapū māmā and whānau, offering empowerment, traditional Māori birthing practices, and evidence-based antenatal education.
