Well Child Tamariki Ora

Well Child Tamariki Ora (WCTO) provides early childhood health and development services to all tamariki under five years and their whānau. 

The primary objective of the current programme is to support whānau to nurture the early development of their tamariki, establishing a strong foundation for health and wellness throughout life. 

The programme provides the opportunity for early intervention through referrals to other primary, specialist or intensive health and social services. For more information please go to Well Child Tamariki Ora visits(external link). Well Child Tamariki Ora service provides free growth and development checks and support for your child/whānau, from birth to 5 years old. Usually, Tamariki Ora services can visit you at your home, at another venue ie. creche/ kohanga reo, or they have clinic sessions. During the visit your Tamariki Ora nurse can discuss any concerns you may have regarding your baby’s growth and development. They support with things like

• Well child health checks

• Immunisations

• Tamariki/parents support groups

• Development and growth Information

• Support with breastfeeding, feeding and sleeping

• Parenting support

• Smoking cessation support

• Car seat rent-to-buy scheme
